2022 Junior season Outline

KINDY & FUN SKICKS  

​​​​​​​This is our grass roots hockey programme that is designed to give interested and keen kids a chance to have a go at hockey. It is aimed at new entrants. Have fun, play, learn, explore and make new friends!!

  • Year 1 & 2 (ages 5 – 6)
  • MONDAYS 3.30pm - 4.30pm
  • First session Monday 9th May
  • Final Session Monday 4thJuly
  • No session Queens Birthday weekend June 6th. 

Develop basic hockey skills and create an understanding of the game, build essential motor and fundamental movement skills. Skill based activities and small-sided games. Highly engaging environment that keeps players active and involved throughout the programme. Sticks are available onsite for new players

YEARS 3 & 4 COMPETITION 

  • To be played on Monday afternoons, first games 4.45pm
  • Competition games will begin on Monday 9th May
  • 6 aside, on quarter of the turf
  • Finals night - Fun games and prize giving, August 22nd (no games on Queens Birthday or over the holidays)

YEARS 5 & 6 COMPETITION


  • Played on Tuesday afternoons – 3.30pm – 7pm (depending on numbers)
  • First game 10th May (No games July 12th or 19th due to School Holidays)Half the turf
  • 20min halves
  • 6 aside plus a goalie (There will be goalie kits available at the turf for teams to use)
  • Finals night August 23rd

Year 7 & 8 COMPETITION


  • To be played Wednesday afternoons.
  • Uniforms - All players must wear the same shirts. Goalkeepers should have a different colour shirt to those they are playing against.
  • Hockey Marlborough 11 aside and 6 A-side competition rules apply.
  • Appointed Umpires to control these matches.

6 Aside Round;

  • May 4th – July Holidays
  • Half Field
  • 4 x 12min Quarters (2mins quarter time, 5mins half time)

Teams can be up to 8 players plus a goalie (6 field players), depending on numbers available from your school.


11 A-side Round

  • Based on 10 teams (To be confirmed April once team entries are in)
  • 2 pools of 5, 
  • 4pm, 5pm, 6pm

Finals Day SUNDAY 21st August 2022
